They have all been rehearsing like mad for many weeks in preparation.
This year Masiphumulele our youngest club treated us to an array of dance and drama, Hout Bay club choir sang, Khayelitsha gave a stirring performance of drama and dance and Phillipi club bowled us over with their multi talented choir.
Of course the high light of the day was to see who won the two RDT end year prizes.
17 members were nominated by their club leaders this year.
One prize is for the most improved academic award.
This prize is not for the cleverest child or the one with the highest marks, but for the child who has shown steady improvement on their academic work throughout the year.
This is monitored by our club tutors and school reports.
The second prize is the Rainbow Child award. This is awarded to the club member who has upheld the ideals of RDT non complaining. Always ready to help. Showing respect to other members teachers leaders and parents just being the best they can be.
This is monitored by school teachers club leaders and parents at the home visits.
This year the two identical prizes were tablets…something really worth working for.
Imagine the excitement as all nominees stood on stage…
Just like the Oscars….
Athule from Khayelitsha Club won the Academic prize and little Erise from Masiphumulele won the Rainbow Award.
I am not sure who was more emotional the two winners or their friends and club leaders!
The unsuccesful nominees all received a prize as well…
What a day..
What at a party a fitting end to another successful club year!
